Royal Mail lost my passport. How do I get a compensation?

Post by SB13 »

Hi there,

The Home Office confirmed that they have returned my passport via 1st Class Royal Mail. Unfortunately, I never received it (it's been 10 days).
This is not only causing me a lot of mental stress, but it will also cost me money to re-do a new one. Therefore, I would like to know how can I get a money compensation from Royal Mail?

Thank you

In this instance I believe the Home Office are classed as the customer as they sent the passport. It would be down to them to seek recompense from RM, which could work to your advantage seeing as it isn't your fault the Home Office sent such an important document via such untraceable untrackable service. You could try giving Customer Services a ring and see what they advise.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
