Customs Charge Notification ...

Post by moulie »

My long awaited parcel from the US has finally arrived in the UK. It went through customs within 24hrs and tracking now states that I may [or may not] receive a letter informing me of a customs charge. Does anyone know how long it usually takes from clearing customs to receiving one of these letters? I don't know whether it's relevant or not but the tracking is via the Parcelforce website.
Many thanks.

Might be worth looking up the phone number for the ParcelForce depot that covers where you live and phoning them to find out if it's possible to pop down there and pay the customs charge in person (if it is possible they should be able to tell you what forms of ID will be required)

that update is automatic by parcelforce, doesnt mean there will be a charge, if marked as a gift and low value there shouldnt be a charge. if bought online from the US and didnt prepay duties then expect a charge
