special lost help

Post by leiwolf »

Currently I am on a two year suspended but today I lost a special delivery, one minute it was in my bag and the next it is not. I spent 2hours retracing my steps, even had the manager help me look for it, to no avail. How Buggered am I and what is the likelhood of losing my job?

This isn't the first time you've lost mail is it? What's the two year warning for?

left a small bundle of mail in my panniers on the bike and the bike got stolen. Manage to recover bike and mail within 15mins. In my defence for that I actaully left the bike in the garden of my first bag drop and seeing has it had a camera on it I thought it was safe, was the first and only time I forgot to lock my bike up, it was a very bad error of judgement on my part and I owned up to that

There's the rub leiwolf - I believe that the terms of a warning stipulates that there should not be a recurrence of the nature of the warning or of a similar situation and I would say this is a similar situation. There can only be a certain limit to warnings otherwise it would be a case of ad infinitum, so I would expect the worst and hope for the best and good luck.

Panniers are not supposed to be for mail they cannot be secured so if you D.O.M. lets staff use panniers he is just as fault as the postman that uses them. They are for you wet weather gear. When delivering up long paths you are supposed to carry your pouch with you how can you do that with a pannier? Get your local rep on to this mate. Your not the first to have had a special STOLEN FROM YOU and you wont be the last.

I use my panniers for D2Ds, packets and my empty pouches and sometimes my first bundle :nervous

If there's an ounce of decency in your management, the fact that you have acted honestly by informing them of this loss, even though you are on a 2 year suspended, should be an excellent point to put forward in your defence.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Panniers are attached to the sides of the back wheel of the bikes, they are like 2 boxes useful for packets, D2Ds, wet gear oh thats right these days the wet gear is hardly ever taken off the weather is so bad
