Is my parcel "stuck" somewhere?

Post by Fritsah »

Hey all,

Few weeks back I ordered some dried herbs and incense from the UK and it was posted royal Mail, it did the whole 'Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country.' thing and two days later it arrived in Melbourne Australia awaiting customs release. Later that night it said it was released and at mail distribution centre then the next business day it arrived.

I ordered basically the same parcel all over again and it hasn't changed from the 'Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country.' nor has it changed on the Australia Post tracker as it says Langley GB.

So I guess I'm posting because I'm unsure if it's even left the UK yet cause as I said, I ordered a parcel two weeks ago, same sender, same location and almost same contents and when it arrived in Australian customs in Melbourne it said it was here and was only there for a day and then was released. This one hasn't updated in over four days and surely it doesn't take 4 days to get on a flight and get flown here.

Thank you in advance!

Australia has really strict bio-security rules. To quote the Prohibitions section of the RM Australia page:
Vegetable products:

Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage
...
Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers
...
Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruit; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder
(Original page: https://www.royalmail.com/sending/inter ... /australia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

So a good chance that it is at least held up at Australian customs, if not actually destroyed.

Hmm I'm not sure it's illegal plant stuff. It's stuff I've ordered before many times and never had an issue with at all.

It's weird that the first parcel touched down in Australia two days later with the scan update saying it arrived in Melbourne awaiting customs. And the second one, nothing
