GLS Germany returned Parcel

Post by steve_x »

Hi

I sent a parcel by UK Royal Mail to Germany last month. However I noticed that the parcel was returned back to me as it has been held in the parcel shop for more than 10 days. I tracked the parcel on GLS website and it says delivered in UK London. I sent a message to GLS twitter regarding to my parcel, they told me that this "delivered in UK" meant the parcel has been handed over to UK. I then contacted Parcel Force as I believe they are the partner with GLS, however by giving them the tracking number, they told me this is a Royal Mail tracking number, so they suggested me to contact UK Royal Mail. I contacted UK Royal Mail but was told that they didn't know where the parcel is.

anyone has this sort of experience? I'd like to know whether there is a GLS location in UK?

thanks
Steve

GLS is owned by Royal Mail, so is Parcelforce. They don’t operate under the GLS brand in the UK.

I am struggling to understand the other parts of your story. Could you please copy and paste the tracking history into the forum and tell us what is in the parcel? That should allow us to help.

Hi Snaggletooth,

thanks very much for the info.

the tracking number is RY143669957GB.

From the RM website, I can see the latest status

11:23pm
Item Received
NEUENSTEIN A ETOE GBA, Germany

the above is actually same as the last second status in GLS website: (https://gls-group.eu/EU/en/parcel-tracking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

DateTime Parcel status GLS Location

25/11/2019 13:15 The parcel has been delivered. United Kingdom London
23/11/2019 00:23 The parcel has reached the parcel center. Germany Neuenstein

the thing I got confused is on Nov 25th, GLS indicated parcel has been delivered, I contacted GLS regarding with this, they told me that it meant the parcel has been handed over to UK, either Royal Mail or Parcel Force.

However until now, I haven't received my parcel back yet, not sure whether it is lost or it is just delayed as xmas time period..

At the German end it was marked delivered on 11/11, when clearly it should have been marked "delivery attempted - no answer" or some such. This seems to be messing up the tracking. It is now on the way back.

Are you the original sender? Did you put your return address on the parcel?

I would put in a P58international form. Explain that it has been Returned to Sender but that it hasn't moved for 2 weeks.
