I just hope the letter is not at the bottom of the ocean.
Here's the story - on 06/07/2019 I sent a letter to a friend in Indonesia. Inside the envelope was a small piece of fabric which was intended as a gift for my friend. The item was at Heathrow the day after, the tracking info says "Departure from outward OE". Since then, there's been no updates. I've contacted POS Indonesia not so long ago and they said that the letter has not reached their country yet.
Any idea what might be going on?
The tracking number is RN614986854GB.

It appears to be stuck in Indonesian customs. The contents are not a problem in themselves: hopefully you attached a CN22 customs form to the package?

The tracking on that says its only been in transit 10 days - not unheard of to be honest especially if there are delays in customs, or they have decided to check a particular batch of mail out.

Well, normally the Indonesian Post provides this kind of information in their tracking info - you can even check the states of the custom checks on a dedicated website. On the other hand though I've had a situation before in which Indonesian Post did not provide any tracking info and yet my friend still received the letter.Snaggletooth wrote:It appears to be stuck in Indonesian customs

The CN22 sticker would tell customs what the contents and value are. If it's not attached they might decide to open package to check to see that is not something illegal and if there is any duty payable.tgomola wrote:Snaggletooth wrote:Oh snap, no, I wasn't even aware that such form existsSnaggletooth wrote:hopefully you attached a CN22 customs form to the package?normally I used to send my friend some postcards, this is the first time I sent her an actual gift... what can happen now?
Which would take longer.

Anything which has goods inside and is leaving the European Union must have a CN22 or CN23 form attached. However there is a grey area with regards “printed papers”, many countries don’t require customs forms for those, your postcards may have got through on that basis.
