PPI Hand Stamps

Hello All

I'm having a nightmare trying to work out if we can use PPI Hand Stamps to put our PPI impressions on our business mail in the office.

Royal Mail customer service have said that "the handstamps have being discontinued and is no longer encouraged by royal mail".

But they are for sale everywhere on the internet. for example: https://www.stampsdirect.co.uk/royal-ma ... ?limit=all" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

1) If you can't use them anymore, why are hand stamped letters accepted?
2) If you can't use them why do so many firms sell them?
3) I know of a few firms that still use them, no problems. Friends of mine work in the post room/s. So why are they not stopped?

Any help resolving this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and there is no information at all on the PPI pages on the Royal Mail website, nor in any of the other brochures they produce. IE: https://www.royalmail.com/corporate/ser ... impression" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
