Awkward letterboxes

I've noticed how difficult it can be to insert flexible leaflets and letters into some letterboxes, especially the ones with bristles and two flaps. Has anyone ever heard of a gadget which the postie could use to make it easier? I was thinking of trying to design something. Comments invited. Thanks

It would be better having some form of legislation, meaning letterboxes fit for the purpose.

The only "equipment" provided is the post peg which looks like this http://www.lexiprint.co.uk/postpeg.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It is mainly to prevent fingers being bitten by a dog, but could be used to post mail through. Can't say I have ever used it and I don't think I ever would. I usually bend/fold the mail and that gives it is bit of extra strength to get through a tight draft excluder. An inner flap does make things harder, but as above I just shove things through as best I can.

The low letter boxes are terribly hard work even just a couple of them

As a general rule folding the mail over without actually creasing the items will usually enable them to pass through any letterbox. If someone has a really small letterbox we would usually knock on the door or ring the bell. I personally try and avoid creasing greetings cards but they can be bent and then straighten themselves once inside if you get the direction correct.
A larger problem is letterboxes at the very bottom of front doors. I believe legislation for mainland Britain is currently being discussed by government to ban them on new buildings and new doors. It may or may not pass into legislation though.
