Why would guaranteed day not be next day?
I never saw this before, bought an item today on eBay, guy posted it SD this morning and gave me tracking, posted at 10.10am, I check tracking and delivery date 2/2. Why would this be? It's in Leeds mail center at min so doesn't appear to be held up.

What part of the country is it going to? Might be bad snow somewhere along the route the lorry would take

Seems like it's going to be 2 days as it's been in Leeds mail centre since yesterday evening. Can only assume bad weather or something in Leeds.

Would this mean postage can't be claimed as they changed the guaranteed time? Perhaps this is why they done that.

Why would guaranteed day not be next day?
You bought this on eBay. If you arranged with the seller for it to arrive by 01/02 and it didn’t then you can claim the postage back via Pay Pal. The seller has broken their contract with you. What the seller does about claiming a refund from their sub-contractor, Royal Mail, is entirely down to the seller.
