Hi,
I have been receiving threatening mails and would like to know where they originated from. The mails have an HQ code (which I'd not like to post on a public forum) but neither the post office nor the Police can/want to help me at figure out where it was sent from.
Can somebody point me towards the right direction or has access to the information? I'm at my wits end here.
Cheers,
Dom

Sending threatening letters in the mail is a criminal offence. It should normally be Royal Mail's internal investigations department that deal with this, rather than your county police force.
There is no data protection issue with giving you the HQ number account holder as this is not personal information. However, RM probably don't want you to know the information as it is commercially sensitive. I would advise you to write a letter to RM customer services asking them to investigate, enclosing copies of the letters and envelopes. Investigating yourself is not really an option.

Hi Snaggletooth,
Just got off the phone with Royal Mail. I was told the investigation team does not deal with individuals, only the police. Any idea on how to make RM pay attention?
Cheers

I would question why they have powers under RIPA if they are going to pass everything over to the police, just for the question to come back to them.RoyallyAnnoyed wrote:Hi Snaggletooth,

Clearly you will need to take it to the police then. I will point out to you that sending threatening mail is an offence under the malicious communications act 1988 (assuming that you live in England or Wales). So don't ever feel like you are wasting people's time, this is a crime.

Hi, the Police has been explaining to me at length how it is not worth it basically. The MET has had cutbacks and unless I get stabbed they won't do anything.
Thanks for your kind words, now hoping somebody from RM will see my plea and help me with the info.
Cheers
