I have sent 7 years taxation documents that took me 2 days to compile because I have been caring for relatives here and received notification they left Heathrow on 27/11 plus a huge Flight number which I believe indicates it went to Los Angeles enroute to Sydney. Is it possible it went to Ascension Island as this keeps cropping up on the tracker the Australian end, although they say it hasn't reached their borders or been scanned by customs. I have sent an email to customs as I am so fed up with this - can't even find out from the hefty flight code which airline took it. Can anyone comment.

Do you have a tracking number that would help us give you some insight?

Also if as you say that Auspost can track it, albeit its gone missing, that may mean its arrived in Australia but has been delayed in Customs. I know the Aussies are very strict on importing stuff.

Yes tracking number is LB244278500GB and flight is GBLALAAUSYDAAUX70755008000063 on 27/11. Aussies say it hasn't been scanned by customs and hasn't reached border and keep referring me back to England Can you help?

I can't physically help but hopefully can give some pointers.

AUSYDA - is from what I can gather is the Code for Sydney Airport - so that's the planned port of entry.

As far as I know Customs don't scan postal items for track and trace purposes, certainly, the UK version doesn't. In the UK and most other countries, there is usually a gap between its arrival in the country and it being scanned by the Postal Operator. In 99% of those cases its being checked by customs.

It is possible that there is a delay processing items in Sydney, I know that there are delays of international mail in the UK just because of the time of year and the sheer volumes coming through. Australia may be the same.

The reason Auspost keep asking you to go back to Royal Mail is because that's who you paid to get the item delivered and its normal practice for the sender to contact their postal service in these cases.

You can contact Royal Mail by twitter if you want they are very proactive and have access to more information that we can get on this unofficial site. Try them at @RoyalMail

Two things which might have caused customs delays:

*ID documents, especially passports;
*Cash.

Did you include either of those?
