I have a Jane Austen £2 commemorative coin that I want to send for a birthday present to a friend in Russia. My local post office said I couldn't, and yet it was sent to me surely via Royal Mail in the first place when I bought it. are they correct and is it the fact that it is going to Russia that is the problem?
What can I do please?

According to the RM Russia site you can't send currency unless its insured https://www.royalmail.com/russia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - ergo more expensive. You cant just send it in a letter.
