a package was sent to me on friday from old street post office in london - 205 Old Street EC1V 9QN and then says its delivered and signed for by steve at MOUNT PLEASANT calling it london central mail centre - on monday 30th - what on earth is going on? how can this possibly happen? it was an ebay trader who posted it at 6.48am and delivery was 11.10am on the monday - thanks for any explanations for this strange event
here is the tracking - the package seems to have gone a 2 min drive around the corner??? what on earth is going on - the proof of posting printed by the post office clearly shows a post code of Se25 and should have arrived at holmesdale road in south norwood after perhaps being at the croydon sorting office.
thanks for any help anyone can give - this is a link to the tracking : https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-it ... 50558561GB" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

recorded item says signed and delivered at same post office it was sent !!
Two possible explanations:
*Royal Mail took it to an address (not necessarily the right address) where it was refused, and the item was returned to sender;
*RM have taken the return address as the to address, which can happen because the sender has put the return address on the front or because the Post Office put the labels on the wrong side.
It is almost certainly the latter. In either case, if the sender's nearest PO was Old St then the item would end up at the PDO at Mount Pleasant.
However, you shouldn't concern yourself with any of the above. UK law is clear that it is the seller's responsibility to get the item to you, you should take it up with the seller. Failure of the seller's sub-contractor (Royal Mail) is not your problem.
