TRACKED PARCEL POSTED IN IRAN WHILE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO GREECE

Post by pasteldreams »

Hi, i am the owner of a small business selling mainly custom made items.
When items are lost i am similarly annoyed with my clients cause that means loss crafting items again of time and money
So i am here seeking an advice whats the best way to handle some situations in the future.
this is an example of a situation that happened recently :
So i sent at febr a parcel to a customer at greece tracked and signed, after a few weeks the customer asked for updates so i checked in royal mail's website and saw that the parcel is for some reason in Iran !!
i told my customer to be patient and that eventually it would arrive but she needed it urgently so i had to craft and resent it to avoid negative feedback
i checked today and seems that the parcel was indeed delivered so the customer got it twice
the question is if i can still open a claim at royal mail??that was an 80£ order :(

You can claim the value of the postage back if the first item took longer than specification to be delivered. You cannot claim the £80 value of a second item.

If the service you used was Royal Mail Tracked & Signed then you can claim the cost of the postage back if the item took more than 5 weeks. You would always struggle to claim back the value of hand made items unless you can show eBay receipts or similar (ask RM customer services for more about this) but you will also struggle to claim for the value because it turned up eventually.

That said, in this case the tracking clearly shows that RM were at fault, so make a good case and you may well get a goodwill payment (don't forget to mention how much you spend with them each month, give a rough figure).
