I sold an item to an eBay buyer in Canada i posted it using an international Royal Mail service with delivery confirmation - receipt shows a weight of 1.394kg.
Had a multitude of problems with buyer which has resulted in them returning a different item to me. They are sending back an item weighing 190g through Canada Posts ‘Xpresspost International’ service. (Expected delivery date is the 21st according to Canada Post website).
But it is not being sent to my address.
I only have the name (which is correct) and postcode it is being delivered to - not the house number. The postcode belongs to a street a short distance from where I live.
Is there anyway to intervene so I could still possibly receive the parcel? (I have asked Royal Mail the official way but there their blunt answer was no).
Additionally the buyer has added a value of around £140 to the parcel (origianl value £225). If this item attracts custom fees I won’t be able to pay them, etc. All this has been purposely done as a scam I suppose (as this is the buyers third attempt at refund for the same item) but the I need the contents to appeal the case on eBay.
Any advice or a lost cause?

I'm afraid the blunt answer is no because that's the law: all items must be sent to the address on the packet unless there is a redirection in place.
Have you talked to eBay's call centre? I called them a couple of months ago when somebody tried to scam me (see old thread in this forum, though it was totally different to your case). I had to wait in a queue for a long time but once I got through the customer service man seemed to understand the problem straight away and cut through the stupid web reporting system they have.

If it's a scam the contents are irrelevant and since it hasn't been returned to the correct address EBay won't be interested in what's actually in it, the huge discrepancy in weight is proof that it isn't what you sent anyway.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Did you use PayPal ?
If so give them a call they have an English call centre team who are excellent and protected me as a seller even when eBay sided with the dishonest buyer. Keep all evidence and be very thorough. All should end well.

Ps- block international buyers from buying / bidding on your items in future. it's rarely worth the hassle
