Good day dear members.
I have a question: I posted an item (a exchange/return to glasses direct) on 26/11/16.
It should have arrived in 48 hours, ideally.
I have contacted Glasses Direct customer service on 02/12/16, and they says that the item is still with the post office, though on a tracking number (XC151731112GB) there is a different information.
01/12/16 23:07 DELIVERED 01/12/16 SWINDON MAIL CENTRE
26/11/16 12:21 SENT AT POST OFFICE 121/125 Peckham SE15 5SF
Basically, I shop online only and a couple of my other returns also state delivered and track point '' Mail center'' but items are delivered back to store.
So is it delivered on 1/12/16 or still with post office?
Regards,
Lovelight.

The weird thing is that with returns both statements could be correct.
The delivery point for large businesses can be Mail centres especially if they are dealing with lots of items.
However, it may take a few days for it to either actually arrive on the Businesses premises or for their database to be updated. With returns for large business, there always seems to be a delay between the tracking system saying delivered and their own systems confirming it. Also with the weekend as well that sometimes adds to the lag, not to mention Christmas of course.

XC barcodes are home shopping returns and they aren't tracked as such, so nobody should read too much into the status of that. But from your point of view, your responsibility was to send it by the shop's chosen return service and get a receipt, which you have. Any refund due from the retailer should not depend on anything else.

Glasses Direct returns are a Business Reply service handled directly by a Swindon Mail Centre BR duty and as such they'll have been scanned as delivered once it has been counted and noted to be charged to the customer, after that scan it'll be with GD on the next available service. Note that Christmas is showing up a little earlier this year so there could be a delay in delivery due to congestion in the system also that they may already have it, just not have opened the box and referenced it to your account!
The Glasses Direct chap is reportedly ex-RM so will have a good idea how parts of the system work
