Not your usual lost parcel (I think)

Post by Racehunter »

I am hoping for a bit of advice please following the saga of a 'lost parcel'.

My daughter ordered an item from overseas on 27 October this year. The sellers website shows the item as delivered. As she was out when the parcel was being delivered, (3rd November) the postie left a card as customs duty was payable. My daughter paid the duty, on-line the same day when she got home. The parcel was not delivered the next day, or the next etc and on 17 November she contacted someone on RM Twitter and was advised that someone would get back to her. Well, today they have stated that they have 'lost' the parcel and she must contact the seller to get them to claim refund. I do not see how this will work, as it is clear that the item was in the UK, in the hands of RM. Is there a way of claiming directly from RM as the fault is with them?

I have searched the 'tinterweb' ad infinitum, but all info seems to relate to items posted/sent with RM. Incidentally she has been refunded the customs duty, but that doesn't help her much.

Thanks

Steve

Your daughter should contact the seller and the seller should refund her then the seller should claim from whichever postal service she originally sent it via. Yes RM lost it but the contract is between the seller and the courier.
