Item tracking has said "pre-advice received" for four weeks...

Post by paperheart »

Hello,

I was hoping someone might be able to advise me on my current predicament.

I bought an item online through Ebay on 26/01/2016. It was marked as dispatched on 28/01/2016. Only after telling the seller that I still had not received the item after four weeks, did they provide me with a tracking number. When I tracked the item on Royal Mail's site today, it only says this:

27-JAN-2016 09:32 Pre-advice received

I have contacted the eBay seller and am going through the necessary steps on that end. I was wondering if anyone on this board could offer any advice? Why would this be the only status message after four weeks? Is the fault with the seller or with Royal Mail?

Thank you for your time.

The official explanation for your status can be found at the link below (copied for reference). So I think they never sent it, hopefully in error. If they sent it on a tracked service, which is fairly certain, then it would have been scanned at least 4 times before it got to your delivery postie.

What's the 2 letters at the start of the tracking number?

Is it due for delivery within the UK or abroad? If it's abroad, is there anything in the parcel that could be considered a "no-fly" item, eg lithium batteries?
