Parcel Sent to Wrong House Number

Post by cgray »

Hi

I have sent a parcel to the wrong house number in a road in Bideford. The recipient has been round to the house number incorrectly put on the address and there has been no parcel delivered there or a card put through the door in the eventuality the resident was out.

The parcel was sent second class on 26 January 2016. I have a certificate of posting.

Does anyone know why the parcel was not delivered albeit to the wrong house number or whether under any circumstances it would have been returned to a sorting office?

Thanks

4. possibilities spring to mind in order of possibilities.

1. Refusal: Someone at the address refused the parcel but, in that case, it would have been returned to the sender if a return address was put on it. If no return addresses it would be forwarded to Belfast who deals with returned letters and parcels. They will carry out an investigation. If this is a possibility then contact Royal Mail direct and explain the situation. They will then pass details to Belfast who will attempt to match the parcel and return it,

2. Damage: The parcel was damaged in transit and the address became unreadable. In this case, it's the same process as a refused parcel.

3. Not everyone Aware at the address: It is entirely possible that it was delivered as addressed but not to the person the intended recipient spoke to, it might be worth trying again.

4. Theft: It's also possible that they have decided to keep it and, therefore, denied receiving it. It's also possible, though thankfully very rare, that it was stolen in transit.
