Should I complain about postman urinating on my wall?
This morning just after I heard the post come through the letter box, I heard what sounded like a hose running outside my door. I went to have a look, and when I opened the front door the postman was still there, but started walking away immediately. This was 30-60 seconds after the post had landed on the mat, so usually a postman would be long gone by then. There was a wet patch on the wall right next to my front door, and a puddle on the floor. I'm certain he had been relieving himself on my wall. Should I complain? I don't want the guy to get in trouble if it was a one off emergency. I understand that there are no public toilets in the area. On the other hand, he could have knocked and asked to use the toilet. Or if he was embarrassed to do that, he could have used the hedge opposite, not the wall next to my front door!

It's not a very pleasant thing to happen to anyone and not something I would condone but at the end of the day you can't be certain what occurred and I personally wouldn't like to see someone sacked without being 100% sure I was right.
It's likely even if it was the postie he was desperate and hearing you opening the door will have given him a fright so it's unlikely it will ever happen again and that's really all you want anyway isn't it.

The only other explanation I could think of would be him pouring a bottle of water down my wall, and I can't imagine why he would do that. But I understand what you're saying, and certainly wouldn't want to get anyone fired for a one off incident. Hopefully you're right and the fright of nearly being caught would make him think twice about doing it again!

I'm sorry to hear of this incident. I've never heard of a postie doing this, a few have mentioned going in a hedge when caught short and one time I almost went against the outside of a block of flats but bottled it and just finished the delivery in extreme discomfort/pain.
As you know you can't urinate at will so obviously he was desperate and must have thought the hedge was too exposed? That doesn't justify going right outside your door. All I can say is many rounds don't have toilets on them and in addition RM expect you to travel to any toilet in your own time! There is no toilet break time allocated to any round. So at the end of the day your postie is being forced into a situation by his employer. At the same time that was a very very poor choice for him to make.
