Problems at Heathrow??

Post by WeyRich »

Looks like a few people all posting asking the same thing, why do items get stuck for so long.

Speaking to Customs yesterday the lady was very helpful and said there was no backlog of items to clear, so I really can't understand why it's taking so long to clear customs? I've received other items from the USA, generally 1-2 days in customs then if you have charges to pay you can call up once the status says charges have been created, then delivery is only a day or 2 away. Appears at the moment things are taking much longer, the annoying thing being no company is taking responsibility for the parcel, so you have no one to complain to or actually ask what is happening.

A waiting game, for anyone else with the issue of a item sent via USPS where they say its in the UK but Parcel Force say it's not. I found a post on another forum, it took 19 days from when the USPS tracking said it had Departed Heathrow to when it got to the local distribution centre, so it does take time.

Could you try the tracking number at http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails and post any entries?

This is from royal mail using the link provided.

Sorry, there has been a problem with reference number you've entered. Please try again.
How to find your reference number. Opens in new window
If your item was sent using Parcelforce Worldwide please use the tracking service on their website.
The reference number does not use the correct format. Please check and try again.

So if I enter it on the PF website, this is what I see.

Service:Express 48 Tracking status:Advised

Tracking event
1/2/2015 6:55 Delivery Agent -MIAMI…+ Forwarded for export
28/1/2015 15:07 Delivery Agent -UNITED STATES AMERICA…+ Collected from customer

and this is the link for USPS https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmA ... 51928765US

The issue I have is, USPS say it's in the UK, they say it was handed over to the postal agent on the 2nd, yet when I speak to PF they say there is no incoming scan so according to them, they don't have it.

So my thinking is it's with customs, and might be for some time.

Another person's tracking which was posted in another message on this forum is https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmA ... 22659011US

Exactly the same status as mine, and on PF website it says the same, just a number of days earlier.

So at the moment, USPS say its in the UK, PF say its not with them, so who takes ownership at this point?? I'm going to wait a few weeks as from other forums it can take weeks, I've read up to 8 weeks to clear customs, it would be ok if there was a scan to say this, but at the moment it's both USPS and PF saying they don't have the parcel, so no one to speak to, to chase.

I have spoken to PF a number of times and as there is no scan, they can't do anything, so I assume it goes through customs first, not to created a charge but to check the parcel coming in to the UK, before going to see if there are any charges, I might be wrong??
