No street name, help appreciated!

Post by BlueParrot »

Hello all!

I managed to order something (first class) and forgot to put my street name (and county.) So it will be addressed:

My name
House number
Town
Postcode

Will this be enough information to get it to me? Will it cause the post lady any problems when she is delivering? I live on a small estate with just one postcode for all the houses.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Yes, house number with postcode will get it to your address.
No problem for the postperson.

Not necessarily!

The number and post code will be sufficient to get the item to the correct Delivery Office.

At that point there is nothing which states that the item should be delivered to you since the the item should be:
fully and correctly addressed in a manner which includes all the elements of the address (including the full postcode), written clearly on the front or on a label securely attached to the front of the cover (or otherwise in a manner such that the address is clearly visible in its entirety as if it had been written on the front of the cover)
Some offices and/or employees may well have procedures in place to identify the missing information but this would be discretionary only.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply!
Our post lady has delivered stuff before that hasn't been brilliantly addressed so that gives me some hope.

And Happy Christmas to you too!

Yes, but house number and postcode should have it correctly sorted anyway. :Very Happy

Do you know what might happen to it after that (if that does happen?)

If the senders address, (return address), is on the item it would be returned to them, if it isn't it will be sent to a place where the item will be opened in order to ascertain the intended recipient or originators address for forwarding. If an address isn't found the item will be destroyed.
