guaranteed by 1pm, posted on sat, arrived tues

Hi everyone,
Son bought a ticket on friday eve for a gig on monday eve. Poster sent by guaranteed sd 1pm on sat before 12pm. (Paid £40 incl. delivery through paypal). Ticket arrived on tuesday morning, useless now.

According to RM website, sat is working day if u pay to have item delivered on a sat, but no info for sat as posting day. I asked the postman who delivered ticket, he said it should have been delivered on monday, but was a little puzzled.

Also on mon afternoon, according to tracking number item was still at Sheffield PO. (Manchester destination)

Have applied for compo, just confused about whether sat as a working day is an issue? Any ideas?

It will all depend on whether it was posted before or after the last collection time on Saturday, it will say that on the receipt. If after then it has been delivered to correct timescale and the sender won't be due compensation.

The fact it was still in the post office on Monday indicates it was either posted after last posting time on saturday (most likely) or the post office forgot to put it into the out going special delivery bag (less likely but still a possibility that does occasionally happen unfortunately)

When I checked the tracking on mon it was definately posted before 12pm, around 11.15am I think, unfortunately the sender refuses to send me the receipt of postage, he emailed the tracking number. I just hope absence of receipt wont affect compo claim as if he wont send it me theres not alot I can do. Ive sent the envelope (would presume thats evidence of postage) and the unused ticket plus paypal receipt for ticket. Not to mention running around mon eve to purchase another ticket last minute, consequential not covered I know.

But the last Saturday collection at some Post Offices is BEFORE 11.15am and it's suspicious that the sender refuses to send me the receipt of postage.
The sender though is Royal Mail's customer who would claim any compensation due and hopefully reimburse you as appropriately.

Ask him to send you a picture of the receipt that will show if posted before or after last collection, I think sender has sent it after unfortunately as said last collection times on saturday can be before 11 am even earlier in some places

Hmmm now thats wierd its saying here 14:37??? When we checked on monday (on the track your parcel page) It was definately before noon as I remember thinking that was last post as it is at my local PO and therefore presumed every PO. On the track parcel page now just saying delivered. My son did phone Sheffield PO on mon to enquire and guy just left him on hold and was very rude.

Tried phoning sender, doesnt answer, sent text asking for copy of receipt to email. Presume if he posted at later time then he's responsible not RM.

Every po has different last collection times unfortunately that's why we are saying to check on receipt as it specifically states if posted after last posting time or not

The Post Office website shows the Highfield post Office at 221 London Road open Saturday from 09:00 to 17:30 so, yes, it could have been accepted at 2.37pm on a Saturday but with absolutely no chance whatsoever of delivery on Monday.
it's possible, but unlikely, that the Post office gave the wrong information but far more likely, given that "the sender refuses to send me the receipt of postage", that the sender posted it too late and knew you wouldn't get it in time.
Compensation due methinks from the sender, not Royal Mail.

Final update, sender has texted and does indeed remember posting in the afternoon. Have asked him to refund my son as its his fault.

Customer services usually only accept the original receipt that's why it should be the sender making the claim for compensation also you will find that all that will be paid out will be the cost of the postage
