I have lost the recorded delivery receipt with the code on it. Is there any way that we can recover the code from the receipt if the intended recipient hasn't received the letter? If we said which post office it was sent from and the address the letter was sent to, would they be able to find a record of the transaction which has the code on it?
Recorded delivery was the right option in terms of what the service delivers - I just need to prove whether or not the item reaches its destination, it doesn't matter if the item gets lost as long as I can prove that it was sent and that it didn't reach the recipient.
My problem in this case is that I lost the receipt and so I can't check if the item arrived or not. Is there any chance I can get hold of the code from the receipt?
Thanks

Officially no chance.
However, if the Po was a small one and you know the Postmaster/Postmistress then they MIGHT be able to help.

Re: Lost Recorded Delivery receipt
Er, sorry to contradict, but we Post Offices have no record at all of barcode numbers for items sent inland recorded. Not on paper, not on the computers, nothing. If we are talking about another service (e.g. International Signed For) then it might be possible to get the office in question to check the paper records if you ask them very nicely.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Officially no chance.
