Royal Mail Incomplete Address what should I do??

Post by plantgirl »

I sent a package to an ebayer in Italy about a month ago and they recently told me that the address I sent it to was incomplete as it didn't have the building number or flat number. I wrote my address on it as a return in case but it has been a month so I am doubting that its going to be returned to me. I know under normal circumstances it would be returned but because it's in Italy I'm not sure what I can do. Any advice is much appreciated!!!

Hi, I remember from my old Ebaying days what a nightmare it was to post to Italy, in fact it ended up being the only European country I would refuse to ship to. Not to say that there's anything untoward happening to your item but the postal service there was notoriously slow and unreliable. They do have a 'return to sender' process if your item is undeliverable but I don't know how long they would hold onto it before returning it.

It may also be worth looking at this link: http://www.royalmail.com/italy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to see if your item would be subject to any restrictions when being posted to Italy. The list is pretty massive, useful to bear in mind for future ebaying.
