Special Delivery still not delivered....

Hi..

I posted a mobile phone back to a PO Box in Leeds that O2 use for returning phones etc for a refund on Saturday 23rd November via Special Delivery.

It's now the 3rd December, and the tracking says, "It's on its way - Your item has reached the delivery office and is out for delivery" I checked last week, and it said the same thing.

I've checked with O2, and surprise surprise, they haven't received the phone.


So I'm basically here just to confirm what I am thinking, before I start a claim, that my package that was sent seems to have went AWOL ?..... In other words, stolen?

Firstly as spacephoenix said post the details on here from the link he has provided,

Secondly because of their tracked at every single stage nature it is very very rare for a special delivery item to be stolen, as it can be tracked to the last person who had it pretty easily and not worth the risk of stealing it, so its very unlikely that its been stolen

Also the delivery drivers scanner may have not been working correctly and not sent the delivery scan to the system,

Also when delivering to some of the bigger companies who receive a large amount of signed for and special delivery items on a daily basis, sometimes the delivery office concerned will still be delivering these on a paper POD (proof of delivery) and as such it can sometimes take a day or two for these to show as being delivered on the system and sometimes a week or so for the actual signature to show online, also if being done on paper your barcode might simply have been missed when it went back to the delivery office and they were scanning the sometimes hundreds of barcodes in,

Lastly from experience they probably already have it, but dont know it, these big companies get lots of items in daily, and sometimes are working two to three days behind, and when you call up they loook on their system, its not booked in yet so they wrongly assume they dont have it, low and behold few days later when its booked in, they say oh its arrived but in reality its been sitting there for a couple of days

Theres lots of reasons that can affect this, i wont say it doesnt happen but it is very unlikely that it has been stolen
