Hi,
I ordered a phone worth £500 from ebay, which was posted by the seller on a "Signed for 1st class delivery".
However, the parcel did not arrive even after 2 days of postage. When i checked online "trace and track", it stated that the parcel has been already delivered at 19:15 on 12/10/2013 and that the Proof of delivery "Proof of Delivery is not yet available for this tracking reference". it has been more than a week now and the website still shows "Proof of Delivery is not yet available for this tracking reference".
I've now filed a complaint with Royal Mail.
However, I was wondering if it is possible for the postman to know which place he has delivered on 12/10/2013 at 19:15? is there any electronic method which keeps track of when and where the parcel was delivered?
can i still have hope that i will get back my parcel??? :'(
I'm a struggling student and £500 is a lot to to let it go :(.
Any help with regard to this matter will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Smith

Re: parcel delivered to wrong address
That's a very unusual time for a postman to be delivering on a saturday night.delivered at 19:15 on 12/10/2013
It's possible but highly unlikely.
Something isn't quite right there.

Re: parcel delivered to wrong address
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I did check the "trace and track". It says the the item has been delivered , but when clicked on view signature it says "Proof of Delivery is not yet available for this tracking reference".
Btw, sorry! i typed the wrong date, the parcel was delivered on Friday at 17:15.
Is it possible to know where the postman was at around that time?

Unlikely except by their manager asking them which may happen as part of the investigation. It sounds as though it was a manual signature rather than an electronic one - it may also not be that it was delivered at 17:15 but that the system was updated as delivered at 17:15 when they got back to the office - this will probably form part of any background investigation anyway.

Re: parcel delivered to wrong address
Yeah, what he said... lol
The only time we were ever out delivering parcels at that time was Xmas, and Xmas pressure is a little way off yet!
It's likely that it was a manual sig and the card was only scanned at that time at the DO to show everything is delivered (or not) and the signature would take a while to appear on the system as the cards are sent off and scanned in. We used to send ours off at the end of every day with the SD items collection to go to the MC.
HOWEVER, if you haven't received the item, you also need to take it up with the ebay seller/put a dispute in with Paypal and they need to sort it out, not you. They paid for the postage (albeit using the wrong service for an item worth that much!!) and are therefore the customer. You are their customer and it is for them to either refund/replace for you if the item has not arrived and for them to put the claim in with Royal Mail.

Re: parcel delivered to wrong address
Be prepared to file a claim against the eBay SELLER for this, Not Royal Mail.
RM will give you about £40(?) max for recorded compensation.
eBay ALWAYS sides with the buyer, Issue a 'Item not received' and you'll receive a full refund of £500, Then its the SENDER'S job to track this package down and/or claim for compo from RM, As the sender is the customer.
eBay/Paypal give you 45 days to file a case iirc.
