I sold a low value item (£5) on eBay and I sent it unsigned. The buyer claimed that the item was not received and instead of giving them a refund I felt it was more appropriate to send another one. The buyer has again claimed they have not received it, now this seems suspicious as I would expect 1 in a 1000 to go missing but two in a row to the same address seems fishy.
I want to be able to move on from this so I intend to give a refund instead of sending another but I was wondering if there was any way of reporting problem addresses or does the compensation process deal with this automatically?
The problem I see that unless the item was sent by a trackable method it would be nearly impossible to identify where the item was lost and realistically I don't think there is much Royal Mail can do to identify the problem but I felt it was best to ask here about this anyway.
Note: I am not asking about compensation etc. that is a separate issue that is being dealt with.

Re: Anyway of reporting a problem address
Standard parcels, the same as letters, are not tracked at all through the Royal Mail system, so there is nothing that can be done within the Royal Mail.
Try ringing the recipient's Delivery Office, maybe the parcels are there and a card was left... although it's unlikely because the customer would have seen at least 1 card.
In the future, it's probably worth paying the extra and sending them Signed For - it's not that much more, and you can reflect this in your E-Bay P&P charges.

We have a perfect record in aviation: we never left one up there.

Re: Anyway of reporting a problem address
The best thing to do is what you are doing already, reporting to to Customer Services and claiming compensation. I don't know if they specifically watch out for patterns of claims and problem addresses, but certainly in the past they have prosecuted people scamming on E-Bay. We have one such item from in our in News Section http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... ay#p429706" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;sterter wrote:I sold a low value item (£5) on eBay and I sent it unsigned.
