Internatonal tracking

I have received a couple of items to my PO box in the last month which have a bar code & tracking number underneath. The 1st was from Bulgaria & the latest was from the US.

On both occasions the public counter people at the D.O. seemed unaware that tracking was required & I took the 1st item back to be tracked with their PDA 'thingy'-but no signature was required.

My (daft?) question is this-the next time I visit the D.O. should I get the second item tracked(to avoid RM being ripped off with a claim for non-delivery) or just forget it?

Items from the US and I think Bulgaria as well aren't tracked in the uk, they're treated as normal 1st class recorded, so once the items have been scanned to the PO Box the system is probably deeming them to have been delivered
