Parcels classified as Dangerous Goods in error

Post by harry84 »

Hi everyone

We have seen of late a number of parcels sent by International Signed For that have been classified at HWDC as 'Do Not Fly" for no reason (believe me, we are well versed in Dangerous Goods regs :Very Happy ). Standard procedure is for the item to get a 'RETURNED TO CO' scan, at which point it gets scanned as going to RLB in NI. Generally then between 10 days - 2 weeks later the item is then sent on to the country of destination in the normal fashion. However, as you can appreciate, these extended transit times are causing our customers some frustration.

Is there anything we can do to prevent this misclassification of our items? Also, would it not be simpler to examine any 'uncertain' parcels at HWDC so that parcels that do meet the rules can be sent straight on instead of shuttling to and from Northern Ireland?

Appreciate the Dangerous Goods regs require conformance but it is extremely annoying when goods get misclassified in this way!!!

They have to be opened to be examined, the only place authorized to open items is the RLB in NI.
