'Item being progressed through our network for delivery'??

Post by tipsa-tea »

Can anyone help me understand a Track and Trace message please?

I posted a 1st class recorded delivery parcel in Canterbury on 11th December, cost £6.55. Weight 1.009 kg, destination Whitchurch Cardiff.

As I hadn't had a reply from my Aunty and Uncle who the Xmas parcel was for I went online and checked the Track and Trace code on my receipt .
It said the item is 'being progressed through the network for delivery'. This seems too long despite the Christmas loading, do you think there is a backlog and how long should I wait before seeking compensation?
Many thanks

Recorded delivery (either 1st or 2nd class) don't get scanned until an attempt is made at delivery. They progress through the network along with normal 1st and 2nd class. Special Delivery items get tracked throughout the network.

15 working days before RM class it as a lost item. I assume you've contacted the recipient to ensure they haven't received it rather than it's been delivered but not scanned/confirmed on the system as such?

Once it's been 15 working days and no sign, get a P58 form from the local Post Office and send it off to Customer Services (freepost address on the form) with your receipt.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

But don't hold your breath waiting for the compensation.

I had a recorded delivery item go missing (an ebay sale), my claim was acknowledged on the 10/10/12 - I chased it up in mid November and was told they would contact me when their investigations were complete.......... and have heard didlysquat since then.
I am no longer a number :-)
