Locating Tracking Number

Post by willhollin »

Hi,

Hoping you can help me out with this one, and it's probably a long shot.

I sold an item on Ebay back in June, sent it via RM Special Delivery, I checked that it was delivered successfully then after a couple of months I discarded the tracking receipt.

Now, 78 days later, the buyer is claiming his credit card was used fraudulently and without proof of the buyer receiving it, I have no leg to stand on.

Is it possible to locate this tracking number by providing the date and address the package was sent to?

All help gratefully received :Very Happy .

On the tracking number - very little chance but contact Customer services they may know a way. 08457 740 740

However, why shold you refund if the buyer's card was fraudulently used then he is covered by the cards insurance. Also don't Ebay have a time limit on claims.

you only need proof of posting to dispute a chargeback

not proof of delivery
too late now,but a private seller needs to retain proof of delivery/posting for at least 6 months
6 years for a business seller

A seller simply has to prove they posted to a paypal confirmed address, to be protected from chargebacks

Thanks very much, will try customer services on Monday.

Will also try the Post Office I used, it's only a village one but on the phone she said no chance of finding it. I'm hoping there is a duplicate till roll that will help me! In fact i'm praying!

I agree, i'm not sure why it's my problem, I mean if you spent £400 and never received the item you would want to know where it was wouldn't you? Had no contact whatsover from him after it was delivered.

The buyer has bought something after my item so the ebay account has been used.

I wish Ebay would tell us to do this though! Or do they somewhere hidden away in the terms and conditions?

Surely a buyer is solely responsible for their own account, and there should be a reasonable time limit to claim something has not arrived.

It's my last time on Ebay and using Paypal thats for sure.

seller protection is listed under PPs T&Cs
You are stating that a buyer is responsible for their account getting hacked? credit card details getting stolen etc etc?
Its an easy thing to be safe from as a seller,as i said all it needs is poof of posting
