Credit Unions

Post by Chimps_tea_party »

There are at least three credit unions that RM staff can join. I would be grateful for anyone's experiences of using these.

Thanks.

I'm with Commsave personally, have some savings with them and a loan which is very cheap and they are very easy to deal with, and the money comes straight out of my wages which is good, the old CWFS is now Foresters.
I left CWFS/Foresters because of their high charges :silenced the other 2 I have no idea about,i'm sure some on here will have dealings with them.

Thank you. One thing that puzzles me is, "Commsave charge just 1% each month (APR12.7%) on the reducing balance of your loan." Unless I'm missing something, that doesn't sound very cheap to me.

I've been in Commsave for years and have always found them easy to deal with.

I have a regular payment to them and use the credit I build up as a reserve against which I can take out a loan if necessary, or I just withdraw cash I need. All done by phone.

I'd recommend joining a credit union to anyone.

By the way - CWFS/Foresters Life are NOT a Credit Union.

As an example this means that should you borrow £1000 from the Credit Union repaid over 1 year your total repayment will be £1066.18.
To me that is s**t cheap.
