It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Doesn't matter what the customr call you ....... You will have to say in the end " have a nice day sir/madam " and with respect and politeness.
Thats what this course teaches .... After doing this course my attitude towards customer has changed up to 90% . I would suggest to Royal Mail to make this course "compulsory" for ALL caller office staff . Yes, this course is that good.

Re: NVQ / Certificate in Customer Service
I spent 4 years in the Callers Office of a big town. I did'nt need a bit of paper to prove I could do my job, all I needed was a manager to actually be bothered to see all the crap we have to deal with on a daily basis

What has society got to when staff have to go on a course to be told to treat customers with respect and politeness ?oxon786 wrote:Doesn't matter what the customr call you ....... You will have to say in the end " have a nice day sir/madam " and with respect and politeness.

Re: NVQ / Certificate in Customer Service
I've never heard of this course and I was in the callers a fair while.............I always relied on my natural good manners.......of course you always have the off day when you really couldn't give a crap...............usually Monday to Friday in my case.
Of course then we actually recorded every parcel 739'd, it's disposal i.e. Redel, Returned etc so if a customer came in we always knew if we had it and where it was. Bit different now of course when a parcel is "difficult" to find the postman always says he's brought it back even if it is subsequently found two days later behind the passenger seat of a van.
