You are legally entitled to any holidays that are due. These holidays are in your pay & conditions contract that you signed when you joined RM. If they refuse your request for holidays then they will be breaking your contract and could be sued.
You are allowed to carry over 5 days with the permission of your manager (Get it in writing). Under exceptional circumstances you can carry over more than 5 days but it must be done in writing by both you and your DOM.
If they refuse to let you carry anymore over and will not allow you any annual leave between now and the end of March then I would put in a grievance about this and also contact your rep if he is any good or the area rep if not.
You will win this grievance because RM are in danger of breach of contract if they dont deal with your holiday issues.
We have been having that problem in our office but on a much larger scale. We have got a new temp manager in alongside the assistant dom and they are trying hard to fit everyones holidays in but they are giving permission for anyone to carry any due days over also to help them out.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
