Hello, this is my first post in this forum, so I hope that I've not come to an inappropriate place (please forgive me if I have) and that someone can help me. Thank you in advance.
I'm not a Postie, I'm a customer. I have received a completely blank Christmas card which I think (from the handwritten address on the envelope) has been sent to me by a child. In the 'old days' the postmark would have shown the town of origin, and maybe the new one still does (but by some code or other). I attach a copy of the franking mark that has been applied by Royal Mail to the envelope - and, whilst it is a tad indistinct (plainly, the franking machines are working hard at this time of year), can anybody tell me how I can find out in which town the envelope was posted as I don't want whichever child sent it to me to think that I'm ignoring them.
I'm pretty sure that the code below the words "Royal Mail" reads "BA.BC.CL.TA" - does that help?

That should have said "grandchild". ⋯ and now I understand it - where I thought the code said "BA.BC.CL.TA", it actually says, "BA.BS.GL.TA" where they are the initial letters of the outgoing postcodes concerned. Thank you again for that explanation @BenacreNick
