Firebox.com, the gadget, games and gifts e-tailer, is expanding its
range of delivery options in time for Christmas by offering its customers in London the opportunity to have must-have items delivered the same day.
Firebox.com has signed up to Royal Mail's Sameday service for people living within the M25, meaning they can order goods by 2pm for a delivery between 6pm and 9pm the same evening. The company already offers a range of delivery options to improve convenience, including Royal Mail's Local Collect service, which allows customers to ask for an item to be taken directly to a Post Office branch if they know they will not be at home to receive it.
Christian Robinson, MD at Firebox.com, said: "We sell quirky and innovative gifts and gadgets before they are available on the high street and some of our customers simply want to get them as quickly as possible.
"The customer experience - whether that be through the items we sell or the way they trade with us - is central to do what we do and our success. Giving our customers a range of delivery options means that they can order in confidence knowing that we will have a service that meets their specific needs."
Gerry Farwell, of Royal Mail Special Services, said: "We have worked closely with Firebox.com since it was formed ten years ago and are delighted that they have joined the growing number of customers who have chosen Royal Mail Sameday to give online shoppers even more control on the delivery of their orders."

I can see massive failure with this. We don't have the staff to deliver what we're getting at the moment let alone in the Christmas pressure period so delivering extra things will just be impossible.

I am sure the POSTOFFICE'S that still remain would welcome the hundred's of packet's a day and the staff will be issued with bungie rope's to make light work of the cramped conditions!. :cfo & :lfo Not soon enough if you ask me.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I have heard of it though not through offical channels, just by posts on here. From waht I remember though its only Mondon (as in the case) and Birmingham where they are doing it at the moment.
Perhaps they'll be bringing back the telegram boys to cover this sort of thing.
