Can posting a Tracked 48 before scheduled collection cause a problem with tracking?

Post by MalhamRocks »

I arranged a 'Tracked 48 with collection' (for Friday 26th) from an embassy in London (SW1Y) for the return of some documentation (to North Yorkshire - HG4), but the embassy seems to have put the item in the post before collection (or possibly sent it with an earlier collection?). The tracking number shows it as accepted at Regent Street Parcelshop on Wednesday (24th) morning, received at London Central MC on Thursday (25th) morning, and the last update is Friday (26th) from London Victoria DO saying the parcel wasn't available when RM called. I'd have thought the item would at least have left London by now, though, and made its way north. The correct (and usual) address is on the label.

I'm just wondering if posting it prematurely and it then being marked as unavailable for the scheduled collection might cause an issue with any subsequent tracking updates and that's why it's not showing any further progress?

The tracking number is YA144571477GB, if it helps.

Yes, the conflicting scans (acceptance at the parcel shop, failed collection at the address) may have caused an error in the system. It does seem that this happens regularly when something out of the ordinary happens.

I did try to see what the current situation was, but the tracking system seems to be having an issue at the moment, as I can't delete old tracking or enter new ones. I can't comment on whether this is a symptom of mismanagement, unfriendly customer service, or poor coding, though.

Ah, okay - good to know, thanks. Hopefully it's a tracking issue and is still on its way.
