Changing table when collecting

Post by peterbav »

What does it take to get the collecting postmen/women to change the tablet on a postbox? On my local box, the latest time of collection is said to be 09:00; however, in fact collections can be made at any time after that during the day. So it's important to know whether the day's collection has, in fact, gone. But the tablet is permanently saying 'Mon' whatever day of the week it is. I have tried and tried to get the Royal Mail people to change the tablet when collections are made, i.e. to do their job, but no amount of e-mailing customer service has been effective. Are they trying to wind me up?

A lot of boxes now don't have the day of the week indicators - missing/lost. Also the indicator could be jammed in the slot. Granted, as you say it could also be the postie is neglecting this part of their job.

RM's official answer will no doubt be that you should aim to get your mail into the box by 0900. The label should also say where the nearest box is for a later collection. Appreciate that this doesn't save you making a wasted journey to another box/PO if the box hasn't actually been emptied when you get to it.

Email is one of the worst options to get an answer from customer services, close behind trying to call them!

You're likely to get a better response on 'X' using @RoyalMailHelp
