Parcel stuck in customs since 03-07-2024.

Post by John Dodge »

Hello, could someone please help? I have ordered some toys from I-model cars. At the time of ordering I did not realise that they were in Russia.

I paid USD 59.99 with PayPal and they arrived in the UK on the 03-07-2024. They were sent to LANGLEY HWDC, United Kingdom 11:42 with the comment "Item at UK customs". Since them nothing has changed. The tracking number is RS009300740RU.

Can anyone help please?

Regards
John

Following Russia launching its unprovoked and illegal war against Ukraine, the UK and many other countries implemented sanctions against the Russian Federation. An overview of the UK's sanctions against Russia can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... s-guidance

UK Customs will, in part, be responsible for enforcing these sanctions, along with customs rules themselves, CITES etc.

The guidance above is hard to read. It is clear that anyone wanting to import goods from Russia needs to apply in advance to the UK's Department of Business and Trade (DBT) to obtain a licence. It is not clear that what you have done required a licence. However, as the parcel went into customs two months ago I think it has been impounded by customs: complex cases rarely spend more than a month in customs, except perhaps in the Christmas rush. If you want to know more I suggest you contact DBT, see link above.

Hi John,

Just curious, did you ever have an update on this or is it still missing/stuck?

Cheers
