Hi
I sent an International tracked item yesterday to Ireland but on the tracking I still only have this:
Tuesday 16 July 2024
11:54
Sender preparing item
Is this normal after 24 hours? Does it mean it hasn't actually been picked up from the post office or just hasn't been updated for whatever reason? Just curious more than actually concerned.
Thanks

Re: Sender preparing item
In this context, I think “Sender Preparing Item” means that the Post Office branch has prepared the paperwork for handing the collection over to the driver. When I worked for the PO this did not normally involve individually scanning items.
The lack of a further scan indicates that Royal Mail have not scanned the item into one of their sites. There are several reasons why this could have happened, including a missed collection, loss of the item, temporarily misplaced item, or the barcode sticker falling off.

Re: Sender preparing item
Could also just be sitting at the mail centre and it didn't get scanned yet. I think this is more likely than the other options. It's happened to me a few times that they took their time to process an item.
Last night RM had really a bad night it seems. My T24 got sent to the completely wrong mail centre and others I know have had the same issue.
