I’m waiting on a delivery for my small business from China. It has taken a while, as expected for international deliveries, but it has now been sitting at “Black Isle Delivery Office” for over a week now. It is also referred to in different stages of tracking as “Black Isle SUDO”, but I can’t find out what SUDO stands for beyond “Delivery Office”.
I’ve been in the phone to RM customer support twice this week, and it’s now had too complaints/prompts from the customer service centre to the delivery office to get a move on and delivery my package, with no luck. The guy on the phone today gave me the green light to head there tomorrow before closing at 1pm to collect it in person (or chin them to tell me what is happening if not), as he was unable to get through to them himself by internal phone lines. No answers apparently.
The issue is, I’m planning my trip and I’ve realised that I have no idea where I’m going. When I try to google “Black Isle Delivery Office”, I don’t get anywhere. The only options I seem to get are “Inverness Delivery Office”, “Beauly Delivery Office”, and “Avoch Delivery Office” (the latter of which is the only one that would be considered to actually be located in the Black Isle Peninsula).
I had suspected that “Black Isle Delivery Office” was just “Inverness Delivery Office”, but incorrectly named on RM tracking systems, but if that were the case then why did my parcel get send from “Inverness Mail Centre” to “Black Isle SUDO”?.
I’ll be driving up tomorrow morning from Glasgow as I’m returning from my parents, and I’d rather not have to leave at freaking 7am to make sure I have time to drive to 3 or 4 different locations to try and hunt down this supposed delivery office that apparently doesn’t exist. But the guy on the phone stated it’s only open 8:30am-1:00pm, so I will either need to waste tons of fuel and energy going across half of the Inverness and Black Isle area to find it, or know for sure which location it actually is.
Does anybody know (or is able to find out for me) what the actual location which is known as “Black Isle Delivery Office”/“Black Isle SUDO” is and where to find it? If it’s just the Inverness Delivery Office, then great, I can get there no problem, but I don’t think it is unfortunately…

the Highlands of Scotland.
The Black Isle is a peninsula in the Highlands of Scotland, located north of Inverness. Contrary to its name, the Black Isle is not an island. It is in fact a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by expanses of water, with the Cromarty Firth to the north, the Beauly Firth to the south and the Moray Firth to the east.

I specifically referred to the Black Isle as a peninsula in my post. But thank you for informing me that it is located in the highlands. As a resident located on the north side of Loch Ness, I had no idea the Black Isle was located in the highlands. That explains why my parcel has been sent there. Thank you so much for you very informative and helpful reply. Here I was planning to head to Dorset to find the mysterious Black Isle, mystery solved

Driving / postman delivery jobs appear to be advertised out of Inverness IV1 1SG office.
SUDO could stand for Sub Delivery Office ?
Postperson with Driving - Black Isle SUDOs Delivery Office (IV1 1SG)
Royal Mail Inverness, Scotland, United Kingdom
The sub Delivery Office could be in the same building as the Mail Centre, but maybe the tracking has to show it moving from one area to another ?
I too was looking for it online between the 1st and 2nd messages.

That was the closest I could find to an answer earlier as well. It would make sense if that were the case, I just don’t understand why their location names don’t match up with the customer facing location names. It just adds so much confusion.
Thank you for your reply though, actually helpful to see I’m not the only person who thinks it might just be the Inverness Delivery Office under another moniker.
