Is there anyone here who is either working at, or management at, Bristol Mail Centre, who could please help me?
I am just wondering if all is running well and 100% there this week (24th Jan 2024), especially outward local parcels/packets (BS/BA/TA) etc?
I have an important package being sent to my disabled parents address, in TA8. It's a Tracked 48, and according to online tracking, it arrived at Bristol MC four days ago, "was due for delivery" two days ago, but STILL appears NOT to have left the Mail Centre!
The sending retailer, a very reputable sender of secure packages, tells me that they have been told, that "Bristol MC has some serious staffing issues", suggesting that things are running very slow. Can anyone at Bristol MC confirm any of this, just to give me an idea of what's going on? Just the facts please, no speculation.
Thanks, KG.

Can you post the tracking number so that we can see the exact wording of the last entry?

Re: Bristol Mail Center (Filton): Running OK?
Hello there, thanks for reply. Surely, if I stated the tracking number on here, anyone seeing it could claim the item as their own?? This actually happened to a good friend of mine last month (to their trackable 'lost' item, I mean).
Besides, I am not sure what "the exact wording of the last entry" means...??
For now, I just want the questions I asked about BMC, answered please, which is why I asked them.
Thank you. KG.

Re: Bristol Mail Center (Filton): Running OK?
I think God must be shining on me today, for once!
I visited my local DO, and had a nice chat about my 'lost' item with a nice chap there. I mentioned my past career with RM, and therefore feared the worst for my package.
He mentioned that suddenly, quite alot of parcels had arrived there this morning and that he would have a 'special look for me'.
Just half an hour ago, a nice polite and apologetic young man (with a new trainee in tow!) delivered it to me. I am very pleased and grateful for this. I mention this here, because this is a golden example that, during times of crisis and possible stormy seas ahead for RM, there are still excellent staff doing excellent work, deserving of much credit where it is due. I think we should all remember this
However, the tracking system has clearly failed here, in this case.
I notice that RM are heavily featured in todays Daily Mail, on the front page (bottom half, revert your eyes from the top half lads!) and page4 and 14. Well worth a read, I think.
I am still interested in how well things are 'moving' at Bristol MC however, especially the local outward items.
KG.

Re: Bristol Mail Center (Filton): Running OK?
I think it's worth mentioning that the tracking system works fine. It's the way the idiots in charge chose to (not) use it that's the problem.
I am in a DO that is fed from Bristol MC. The parcels seem to arrive very promptly from Bristol, the occasionally one goes on an unplanned detour to another DO for a bit but generally Bristol are good.
The issue is more than likely that once the parcel has got to the DO, unless there is certainty that the parcel is going to be delivered that day management won't allow it to be scanned, and acknowledged as being there.
That way it shows up as a mail centre failure rather than the failure being linked to the DO.
I can tell you with 99.9% certainty that the chap you spoke to was lying. Your parcel has probably been sat in the DO for days but with no-one to deliver it.
I have heard this lie told to customers many many times.
