Who resolves lost parcel?

I recently found that some of my parcels have been delivered to a very similar sounding address a few streets away from me. The occupants of the house brought me one of my parcels, however another one that was shown to be delivered there, they say they do not have. This parcel was left at their property while they were away on holiday. I presume it has been stolen if it was left out in the open for several days, a week or longer. Royal Mail DO confirm it was delivered. (Which yes it was, but not to my address)

So who is responsible in this situation? Obviously I've paid for something I've not got, so I either want a replacement or a refund - Is it the company I bought from who is to sort this out? Because that's what it sounds like from researching online, but this is clearly the fault of the delivery driver.

The claim needs to come from the sender. The only way to prove that this was delivered incorrectly is to compare the GPS data from the delivery driver’s scanner (held by Royal Mail) with the proof of sending (held by the sender).

This is part of the reason that it is the seller’s legal responsibility to resolve the issue with the buyer.

Legally, under the distance selling regulations, it is the company that sent the item to you that you need to chase as your contract is with them.

They then should liaise with Royal mail and get compensation if provided under their contract, because it was Royal Mails' mistake.
