Are Tracked/Specials not scanned as Out for Delivery any more?

Have had 2 x Tracked 48 and 1 x Special this week, in each case the last scan prior to delivery was the dispatch from the Manchester Mail Centre to our local DO. Previously there was an Out for Delivery scan too... in each of these cases we were concerned the packages weren't coming on their appointed day/time, but in the end they did.

The Special is my wife's regular medication from an Online Pharmacy, so it's always been good to know what's going on with that.

Is this just a blip/have we just been unlucky or has there been a change in procedure?

This week a new scan procedure has been brought into force in many 'last mile' delivery offices - for the recipient there should
be no difference seen, you should still get a text/email saying the parcel is due for delivery (eventually the new
scan is supposed to give a more accurate time for delivery based on building up data from how delivery routes
are carried out).

Whether this new scanning procedure has caused problems with the amount of data the tracking system is
having to cope with or your local office has not been informed and trained with respect to the new
scanning method or (due to the current industrial 'strife' between Royal Mail management and its workers)
the scans are not just being performed - who knows?

Specials should be scanned when they arrive at the DO and I believe that Tracked are meant to be scanned on arrival at the DO as well

Yes - all tracked and specials are scanned IN at the inward MC, which advises each customer that the item is out for delivery that day.

Specials should be scanned when they arrive at the DO and I believe that Tracked are meant to be scanned on arrival at the DO as well

Tracked are no longer scanned on arrival at the DO, at least in my office from last Wednesday - they are scanned by the duty holder during prep.

I don't think anyone has a clue any more.
I bought something online. I got a text on Thursday from the MC telling me it would be out for delivery on Saturday.
I did the inflight thing to ensure it didn't get delivered when nobody was at home.
It was delivered on Saturday with no further updates from the Delivery Office.

It didn't get scanned "ready for delivery" or "scanned to core route" on Saturday so nobody picked up the inflight instruction.

On busy days we have been told to scan the first 20 smaller tracked at the fitting & the larger ones on the doorstep

Not any more, although the system did change only a week ago.

No scan on arrival at A DO for tracked anymore, only get scanned during prep of the duty. Going nationwide in March I think.

Thanks for the insight... This new approach seems counterproductive as it frustrates customers if their shipment is not correctly scanned Out for Delivery - as was the case in my case - but surely too it will generate more queries to Customer Service if people think they aren't going to get their stuff on time?!

Sure the management know what they are doing though...

It's going to get interesting if anything goes missing as there'll be nothing to prove that an item has arrived at a DO. imo it's a very big mistake axing the arrival scan at DOs

Annoyingly I got an email saying will be delivered today but nothing got delivered. Tracked24. So no idea if it's at the DO or not. Downside of not scanning
