Special Delivery / Letter Class- Never to be seen again ?

As a business we normally use RM24 /48 to send large letter items. At the beginning of December we started to notice delays of up to 10 days, so we started to use Special Delivery for all items, believing that it would be prioritised and tracked. How wrong we were. We now have over a dozen items sent 1st week December that have only been scanned at the Post Office, where they were dropped. We have had no tracking on any of them and its now the 20th December. We have been fairly reliably informed that parcels are being prioritised at the moment and bags of unscanned mail has been sent to regional warehouses, rather than taken to the correct mail centre. Special Delivery nearly always contains valuables or important documents and to simply ignore them is shameful. We have been told to claim for loss but chances are, the mail bags will be found before the claim is processed and we will have already refunded our customers.
Thank you Royal Mail, it certainly will be a Christmas to remember.

Unfortunately, we are not an official Royal Mail site, but we do have plenty of customers on here who complain of the same thing. I can only offer my sympathies and assure you that not scanning or delaying Special Delivery items is not a Posties decision, it's more likely to be higher management. I would personally recommend kicking up a fuss about it but can't say any more as it could be deemed bringing the firm into disrepute, and in this climate that's not conducive to continued employment.
