Bought an item on eBay on the 6th and was sent that day and moved to Bristol MC the same say but has been stuck there since the 6th. Thought they were prioritising Special Deliveries. Will leave the country for Xmas holidays next weeks Wednesday and probably wont be able to get it so just money lost in the end. What a bloody joke

Bristol MC is notoriously having mega delays with mail piled up outside the mail centre because they don't know where to put it anymore.

In what way have you lost money?

It is the seller's legal responsibility to get it to you in the time contracted and their legal responsibility to give you a refund if it fails to arrive in time. You need to complain to the seller. Failure of their sub-contractor (Royal Mail) is not your problem, it is seller's problem.

RM must be swamped with claims now. All these people claiming loss when most likely the item is just sitting in a mail centre unscanned... Is it true that you posties have been told to not deliver letters and that OT has been cut at the moment?
I am not getting stuff I want but you can bet that leaflets and the debt collection agencies letters are delivered regularly lol

How can be so sure that these item are just 'sitting' in a mail centre. From what I can see the situation is total pandemonium because of these strikes. RM workers are just creating extra work for themselves by going on strike, and the customer is suffering. I don't want to get involved in the politics of all this, I just want a normal service to be resumed and so do millions of others.

Tancred, its taken 8 months to get to where we are today, postmen and postwomen would like to do their daily jobs and go home at the end of the day.

But our terms and conditions are under attack and the future of RM will look very different.

I hope that adds some context for you.

I understand all of this but customers and retailers are suffering huge disruption as a result.

The CWU would have targeted these December dates for maximum effect of huge disruption, with the aim of getting the RM board back to the negotiating table to settle the dispute.

I feel your comments are for CEO Simon Thompson as he is solely responsible for this huge disruption that you are experiencing.

Royal Mail and any other firm since July this year can use agencies or casuals to cover strikers' work. They have chosen not to. Yes the strikes are causing delays, but why isn't RM trying to mitigate the delays

You are correct, but then would casual staff be sufficiently trained? They would need to be trained up, and that takes some time. Also, they would need to be trusted, and finding good people is not easy. That said, the management is obviously playing up to the public by making people upset so that it rebounds on the strikers.

Take a look at Bristol Filton from drone footage provided by The Mirror: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjpSporiONg

You can see the stuff stored outside and you can guarantee if they're having to store this stuff outside, the inside will be rammed as well.

About compo claims - this is on RM's website:
Priority Items on days of Industrial Action
Special Delivery Guaranteed: We will continue to accept, prioritise and deliver as many Special Delivery items as our resources allow during strike action. However, we cannot guarantee delivery of all items by 9am or 1pm next day. We will therefore suspend the next day guarantee for items sent the day before, during strike action and until our services are back to normal. Customers will not be able to claim compensation for items which are delayed during this period.
