Tracked 24 on Sunday

Post by Stinkycat22 »

Hi,
Would a tracked 24 large letter be put out for a Sunday delivery if I buy the postage today and delivery isn't made tomorrow? Item fits postbox so I don't think you can call it parcel but it is up to 100gr and fits a large letter.

I had two ebay items sent as tracked 24 (I bought the postage online myself so I know it was standard tracked 24) both delivered surprisingly to my customers in different places on a Sunday, next day. These were two videogames fitting a 250gr max large letter format so not really parcels. They had been collected from me by RM.
I am therefore asking if I could be lucky to get this tracked 24 delivered on a Sunday if they cannot make the delivery for tomorrow, thanks. Really cannot wait till next week.
This based on what I said earlier about my videogames being delivered on a Sunday without me buying a special postage or anything.

sometimes, if there is not enough work to take Sunday Posties up to their paid time, they will deliver other stuff afterwards.

So yes tracked letters can be delivered on a Sunday, but I wouldn't bank on it.

It depends.

In theory any Tracked 24 item would be delivered (or delivery would be attempted) on a Sunday if it hits the inward Mail Centre on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. Generally speaking these are items posted on a Friday night (after last collection) or a Saturday morning.

However, if it’s posted on a Friday and arrives at the destination Delivery Office on Saturday morning, and they can’t deliver it as there’s no-one home etc, then delivery may not be attempted again until Monday. The reason being not all DOs are open on a Sunday. Mail that arrives at the destination Mail Centre too late for Saturday delivery can be routed to a DO that’s open on Sunday (a hub that delivers on behalf of closed offices). But I doubt a non delivery from Saturday would be sent back to the Mail Centre for a Sunday attempt.

Hope that makes sense.

OF COURSE: there are delays at the moment because of industrial action so the above is only what happens in theory when everything is running smoothly.

There are also some “remote” geographical locations (mainly in Scotland and Northern Ireland) where Sunday deliveries are not in operation.
