Our Stamp Swap scheme opens today – (Thursday 31 March 2022.)
Back in February we announced that we are moving to barcoded stamps as part of our extensive and ongoing modernisation drive.
Barcoded stamps will help us to make operational efficiencies, introduce added security features and introduce new and innovative services for our customers in the future.
As part of our permanent transition to barcoded stamps, we’re encouraging customers and colleagues to Use Up their non-barcoded stamps by 31 January 2023, at which point non-barcoded stamps will become invalid.
Using up is the easiest way for customers and colleagues to make the transition to the new stamps, and reduces the need to ‘Swap Out’ via our Stamp Swap Out scheme, which opens from today (Thursday 31 March 2022.)
Many of us may be sitting on a stash of non-barcoded Christmas stamps we have received as a thank you from the business each year and wondering how best to shift their festive philatelic collection.
Not a problem – as non-barcoded Christmas stamps will continue to be valid for postage and do not need to be either used up before January 2023 or swapped out.
If you do find yourself in a position where you are unable to use up any other non-barcoded stamps, that’s not a problem either as it’s really easy to swap them out for barcoded stamps.
Simply fill in one of our Stamp Swap Out forms; enclose the non-barcoded stamps and send everything to us using our freepost service (address details are on the form).
You can download the Swap Out form here. ( https://www.royalmail.com/sending/barcoded-stamps) Either print it out online, or if you don’t have a printer you can give us your name and address and we will post a form out to you.
Alternatively, you can pick up a form from your local Delivery Office Customer Service Point.
There is currently no closing date to the Swap Out scheme, so you’ll have plenty of time to make the transition to barcoded stamps – even if you don’t get the chance to use up all your old stamps.
Nick Landon, Chief Commercial Officer, said: ‘As we move to this exciting new era of barcoded stamps, please check your kitchen drawers, wallets and purses for older non-barcoded stamps and make sure you use them up by 31 January 2023.
‘If you can’t use them up by then we have set up a Swap Out scheme as a simple way to swap your old stamps for our new, digitally enabled, ones. Welcome to the new world of barcoded stamps. Download the Royal Mail App and try them out.’
Stamps eligible for the Swap Out scheme:
· Regular 1st and 2nd Class ‘everyday’ stamps featuring the profile of The Queen and those that show any other value are eligible for Swap Out.
Stamps that do not need to be swapped out:
· Non-barcoded Christmas stamps and other special stamps with pictures on will continue to be valid for postage and should not be submitted for Swap Out.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
