Hi
I wanted to 'sense check' something if that is ok?
A contact of mine has posted an urgent document (I believe next day / special delivery) to a company. As it was a passport he has paid full whack for it to be sent. I'm a 3rd party to this as I'm dealing as the go-between between the company and the individual.
It was posted on Friday and apparently delivery was attempted on Saturday, but the site was closed. Apparently he received a text to confirm that delivery was not made and that it is being returned to the original post office from where it was sent.
I would have assumed the Royal Mail would have attempted a redelivery? I'm trying to work out if I'm being spun a lie?
Thanks for any help

Re: Recorded / next day delivery
Normally it would not be returned to a Post Office unless they were the sender and it would not normally be returned until 18 days after the attempted delivery unless the item was refused.tiny321 wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 20:20Hi

If the offices were shut on Saturday a card would normally be left (even for Special Delivery) and the company could either collect it or re-arrange delivery. If there was no access to a letterbox then the card or the item may be delivered on Monday (the process depends on local issues).
Special delivery items that are refused, or that cannot be delivered, or exceed their 18-day limit are returned to the sender, and a return address must be given on the item, the Post Office would normally check this.
So you might be having a lie spun on you, but also it may just be that the sender misunderstood the process.
